LDS Geneva Ward Creates New Congregation

Church membership in The Church Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints has grown enough to prompt the creation of a new ward serving the St. Charles area.

For the first time in 24 years in the Fox Valley, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has created another congregation due to the growth of the Church membership in the Fox Valley.

Previously known as the Geneva Ward, the congregation included St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, West Chicago, Wasco, Lily Lake, and parts of South Elgin. There are now two congregations: the St. Charles Ward which includes St. Charles, Lily Lake, Wasco and parts of South Elgin; and the Geneva Ward which includes Geneva, Batavia and a tiny portion of Aurora.

Each congregation has approximately 300 members. The leaders of the two congregations hold the title of Bishops and reside in St. Charles and Geneva, respectively.
