Joust Read! Geneva Library Becomes Medieval Fair, Starting Next Week

"Enchanted with Books" and "Eat, Joust, Read" provide summertime incentives for young, old and everyone in between.

In a little less than a week, the Geneva Public Library will be transformed into a medieval escape, complete with dragons and a castle.

Geneva’s librarians are hard at work preparing for the Youth Summer Reading Program, “Enchanted with Books”, and the Adult and Teen Summer Reading Program, “Eat, Joust, Read.”

Patrons can begin registering for both programs beginning Wednesday, June 1. To sign up for the adult and teen reading program, visit the Readers’ Advisory Desk. To register for the youth reading program, head down to Youth Services. All summer reading participants must have a valid Geneva Public Library District card to register.

“Enchanted with Books” will provide toddlers through sixth-graders the option to participate in one of four clubs based on reading ability. Various prizes for each club can be earned starting Wednesday, June 15, until Monday, Aug. 8.

Teens and adults participating in “Eat, Joust, Read” will be able to “buy” premiums and prizes based on books read. Additionally, participants can enter a weekly drawing for gift certificates from local businesses. A grand-prize drawing will be held Tuesday, Aug. 9, and the program ends Wednesday, Aug. 31.
