It's a Perfect Day for a Marathon

Runners will be coming through Geneva all the way until 1 p.m. Old Mill Park and Island Park are good places to root on your favorites—or just people in general.

The Fox Valley Marathon could not have asked for a more beautiful day.

Runners are racing through Geneva right now, and one of the best places to view is Island Park and Old Mill Park.

More race coverage is coming up, but here are some photos of people we met this morning.

Colleen and John Fasebender of Geneva are here, rooting on everyone who runs past. They are standing next to Dee Solon in the yellow marathon volunteer T-shirt. And right next to them are Dina Pilipczuk and Leisa, Mia and Max Divito, all rooting for friends and family members of their neighborhood's Gwuner Run Club in Aurora.

Dave Baert Geneva is here watching. He's a bricklayer who building a school right now in between gigs in Wisconsin. Dave also is a GHS grad and Viking football fan.

Steve Laduzinsky is here with the Geneva lacrosse team, giving volunteer hours for the high school and promoting lacrosse. The team came out in the morning, even though they have a game at noon in Naperville.

"We like to show we support the community," Laduzinsky said. "We definitely want to become a school sport and we think this will help us. We're getting a lot more popularity with fans and a lot more kids are joining."
