Get Out: 5 Things to Do in and Around Geneva This Weekend

The big event is the Big Show, but there are a lot of fun things to do in Geneva.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for when you're done with work and ready to get out. Check our picks for the activities to hit.

Why Go: The Geneva History Center will present the , aka in honor of Geneva's 175th birthday benefitting the center. It features a small cast with a Radio Theatre format in a -like presentation.
Pricing: $75 for center members, $100 for non-members.

2. QUIET RIOT

  • Where/When: 8 a.m. Friday at , 105 E. Main St., St Charles.
  • Why Go: The heavy metal band performs.
  • Pricing: $29-$59.

 

 / ENGLISH HONORS BOOK SALE

Where / When: 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Geneva High School

Why Go: There are more1,000 books to choose from, plus CDs and DVDs at great prices. All proceeds from the sale will benefit Mutual Ground.

  • Why Go: has some great history. And donations are for a good cause. Good Templar Park is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
  • Pricing: $5, $3 for ages 13-19, 12 and under free 

 

5. GRAND OPENING PEG BOND PERFORMING ARTS PAVILION

  • Where/When: 2-8 p.m. Sunday at , Houston St. and N. Island Ave., Batavia.
  • Why Go: Celebrate the and dedication of the Peg Bond Center Performing Arts Pavilion with live music, refreshments and ribbon cutting. Bring a lawn chair or blankets and take in a variety of local talent performances.
  • Pricing: Free.

 

TWO BONUS WEEKEND EVENTS

1. RADIO HOUR

  • Where/When: Run is 7 p.m. Saturday at Primrose Farm, 5n726 Crane Rd, St Charles.
  • Why Go: Listen to a 1930s radio  by lamplight while sampling popcorn and other refreshments prepared on a wood stove.
  • Pricing: $5.

2. ARMED FORCES DAY

  • Where/When: Saturday at , 1042 Commons Dr., Geneva.
  • Why Go: All members of the armed forces eat for free.
