Geneva's Eric Wehrmeister Making Astonishing Videos for National Geographic

You'll probably want to check out this article, just to see the video.

It's winter, and it's cold. And while Geneva is a beautiiful place to live and grow up and February is a time of year when exotic ports of call play a greatest-hits medley of their most alluring siren songs.

Enter Eric Wehrmeister, who knows firsthand what it's like to live and grow up in Geneva, but who is exploring those exotic locales in ways that most of us can only find in daydreams.

Wehrmeister, 23, is a videographer for National Geographic, a 2008 graduate of Geneva High School and a 2011 graduate of Columbia College Chicago, with a B.A. in cinematography. He works for Lindblad Expeditions, "traversing the globe on their fleet of National Geographic expedition ships."

As this is written, he's probably colder than any of us, because he's in the South Shetland Islands, about 75 miles north of the Antarctic Peninsula, recording the life and times of Chinstrap Penguins, the breeding of Macaroni Penguins and the catastrophic molt of Elephant Seals.

"We awoke this morning with gentle seas and a following wind," naturalist/photo instructor Mike Greenfelder writes on expeditions.com. "Storm-petrels and albatross were swirling about the ship. We were in Antarctica! The White Continent. Finally, a dream had come true for many of us."
