The 8th Annual Ellen's Excellent Sale
Mega Yard/ Street Sale featuring home décor, furniture, toys, books, and sporting goods, popcorn, lemonade shake-ups and face painting! There will also be an incredible bake sale featuring “Ellen’s Excellent Brownies.”
Eight years ago, Ellen’s Excellent Sale began. When I was a nine year old, my family volunteered for a work project at Lazarus House, a homeless shelter in St. Charles. I was shocked to find that children and families just like mine were living in homelessness. At that point, I immediately knew I had to help the shelter. My mom and I decided upon a garage sale when we realized we had lots of extra “stuff” lying around. Thus, the sale was born.
Last year, Ellen’s Excellent Sale raised $9,600 and we baked and sold 50 pans of tasty brownies. In the last 7 years, Ellen’s Excellent Sale has netted about $50,000 for Lazarus House.

This year is bittersweet because it is also the final year of Ellen’s Excellent Sale. Next summer, I will be heading off to college and my family will not be able to continue the sale. However, we have found a family from our church to take over the sale. Our goal for the 8th and final Ellen’s Excellent Sale is to raise $10,000 for Lazarus House and even more awareness…and we need your help!
