Eat Pasta, Enjoy a Band Fest, Fall Under Sleeping Beauty's Spell

Learn to be a babysitter, listen to the music—there are many fun things to tote your kids to this week.

Grab & Go Kids Planner runs each Wednesday and suggests five family activities or events for the week, here in Geneva and within reasonable striking distance. Help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips—just add them to the comment box. Even if you disagree with our picks, let us know. We want to hear from you!

  • Where/When: 5-8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Riverview Banquets, 1117 N. Washington Avenue (Route 25) in Batavia
  • Why Go: For one thing, it's fun. For another, it raises money for the downtown Geneva beautification efforts.
  • Pricing: $10 for adults and $5 for children age 10 and under if purchased before the event and at-the-door costs will be $12 for adults and $6 for children.

  • Where/When: 2 p.m. Sunday at , 416 McKinley Ave.
  • Why Go:  band first, followed by high school

AWESOME ART AFTERNOONS

  • Where/When: 1 p.m. Sunday at , 160 S. Water St, Batavia.
  • Why Go: include drawing, coloring, pasting or painting. Assorted art supplies available at no charge. All ages: Best for ages 3 and up accompanied by an adult at all times. Teens welcome with parent permission.
  • Pricing: Free.

THE SPELL OF SLEEPING BEAUTY

  • Where/When: 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday at , 111 W. Main St., St. Charles.
  • Why Go: This classic is adapted by Vera Morris, and is an all-ages show on the Children's Stage
  • Pricing: $12, $10 for students and seniors.

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. Saturday at , 300 Randall Road, Geneva.
  • Why Go: OK, this is a little different, but very cool. The  is for 11- to 13-year-olds who want to start babysitting. Recruits will receive an American Heart Association Infant CPR Kit, learn about basic first aid and rescue maneuvers and how to handle emergencies along with simple childcare skills and age-appropriate activities.
  • Pricing: Free.

And if you don't mind a little drive, this is  pretty cool:

CINDERELLA (Ballet)

  • Where/When: 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at , 5021 Highland Ave, Downers Grove.
  • Why Go: Midwest Ballet Theatre presents its original full-length story . Girls through age 12 who attend the performance dressed as Cinderella are eligible for one free raffle ticket towards a Precious Moments Cinderella figurine.
  • Pricing: $15; seniors, students and children $13.
