Church Social: Run or Rummage for Local Churches

Proceeds from races and a rummage sale will help fund local missions and even rescue victims of human trafficking.

Church-sponsored fundraisers are popping up like daffodils throughout Geneva. Here’s a bouquet worthy causes to be generous to while having a great time:

will host its fourth annual Feets of Strength 5K race to prevent child abuse starting at 8 a.m. Sunday, May 15, at the , located at the intersection of First and Third streets.

The fun will kick off with a youth mile run at 8:30, followed by the 5K run/walk at 9 and a Little Feets Dash for children ages 9 and under at 10. The event also will feature live music, balloons, face painting and free massages for runners.

Proceeds will benefit Royal Family Kids Camp, a nonprofit group that provides summer camp experiences for foster children. For more information, visit the church’s website at www.fbcg.com and click on the Events link.

will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the church, 301 S. Third St. The sale tables will hold electronics, video games and sporting goods as well as clothing, furniture and handcrafted items. For more information, call the church at 232-0165.

will host a noncompetitive 5K fun run at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at , 4038 Kaneville Road. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. Race times will not be recorded, and anyone who finishes will receive a commemorative medal. Refreshments will follow the race at Peck Farm’s three-sided barn.

The event is open to parishioners, friends and neighbors of St. Peter’s, but not to the general public. Registration fees May 14 will be $15 for students, $20 for adults and a $60 maximum for families. Proceeds will benefit parish programs.

The Well community church will host a 5K race and youth mile run at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at River Park in Batavia. Registration opens at 7:30; the youth run will start at 9; and the 5K race will start at 9:30. The event also will offer live music, refreshments, a raffle and children’s play area. Registration is $30 for adult runners and $10 for youth mile runners, and includes a free meal for the runner and family.
