Celebrate Holidays, Geneva History at 9th Annual Creche Luncheon

Fundraiser continues a Geneva tradition first established at the Little Traveler more than 80 years ago.

Plans are under way for the Geneva History Center's 9th Annual Creche Luncheon.  The Creche Luncheon is an annual fundraiser for the Geneva History Center and continues a Geneva tradition first established at the Little Traveler over 80 years ago.  In 1930, the Little Traveler's Kate Raftery purchased an antique Neapolitan nativity set which she displayed in a 17th century French Provincial corner bed.  The Creche became a focal point for a series of holiday luncheons showcasing this wonderful gem.  It now resides at the Geneva History Center where the Holiday tradition continues today.

The Creche Luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, December 13, and Saturday, December 15, at 12:45 p.m. at the Geneva History Center, 113 South Third Street.  Proceeds from the sale of tickets will be used to conserve figures displayed in the Creche nativity scene.  The tables will be decorated by members of the community using their finest china, crystal, silverware, and centerpieces.    A distinguished group of Geneva notables will once again serve as waitstaff for the event.   The luncheon will be prepared by students in the Culinary Department of Geneva High School.

Reservations are $55 and can be purchased at the Geneva History Center or online at www.genevahistorycenter.org.   Luncheons in previous years have sold out so make your reservation as soon as possible.  Don't miss your opportunity to attend this unique Geneva holiday tradition.  For more information, please telephone 630-232-4951.
