Andrea at Swedish Days: Rescue Dogs Put on Quite a Show

The "Swedish" dog days of Summer at Wheeler Park.

Following the at Wheeler Park on Saturday morning, the Fly Dogs put on a great performance.

From agility to freestyle dance—these dogs could do it all. All of the dogs that were a part of the show were rescue dogs. Their handler explained that it is very challenging to train rescue dogs, but to see their progress makes it worth the time and effort.

One of the popular dogs today at the show was named Laser. He was a medium-sized herder dog that was more enamored with rubbing his belly on the soft grass at Wheeler Park than showing off his tricks. The crowd was still amused and though his owner was a bit frustrated, Laser kept wagging his tail and showing her that he was still a crowd favorite.

The best part of the show for me was when the handlers asked for volunteers to participate in a fun game with the dogs. With four kids in the ring, one of the dogs did an agility course created by the kids which culminated in the dog sitting on the back of a very happy, young boy. The crowd cheered with approval and the dog gave an encore performance.

It was an amazing show that I did not want to see end, but now I am headed to enjoy more of this beautiful Saturday for Swedish Days in Geneva!
