5 Things You Should Know for Thursday, Aug. 4—Books, Teenage Drama and More

Tune in to WGN today and see (hopefully a Geneva author tell us where to "Take a Hike."

You can also help promote literacy by donating books or enjoy an enchanted story with your children at the library. 

Here are five things going on today in or around Geneva:

1. See Geneva's own outdoor author, . Bond has written a comprehensive collection of the best places in our area to hike for many different interests.

She will also be signing books at the Morton Arboretum. Tune in to WGN at 11:30 a.m. for more information. 

2. Join  for a humorous glimpse of the drama behind their dramas in a performance titled, Noises Off. This special showcase starts at 8 p.m.

Admission is free. Cash donations are requested for the Voices On partnership with the International Organization on Arts and Disability, as well as the FVR Student Scholarship Campaign.

3.  Enjoy the fruits and vegetables of summer with fresh produce from the . The market opens at 7 a.m. so plan to get there early for some of today's best items.

4. Donations are still being accepted for the . Books for all ages will be accepted until Aug. 15 for the Literacy Volunteers of Illinois.

The Literacy Volunteers of Illinois feel that the biggest socioeconomic problem is low literacy rates. In order to address these issues they offer one-on-one instruction in a relaxed and non-judgemental environment. Their goal is for every student to achieve literacy success.  

5. Children are invited to the for a youth program called "Once Upon a Time." This is an interactive program for generations to come together and tell stories,
