5 Things You Should Know for Monday, July 11—Free Slurpees, World Population Day, and a City Meeting

Head over to your local 7 Eleven today (7/11) and get a free frozen drink.

World Population Day asks that we take a moment to reflect on how our global population issues will affect the next generation. But, you can also help the community tonight by donating some extra time to help a homeless shelter. 

Or, attend a Cougars game with BOGO tickets. All you need is a Meijer receipt. 

Here are five things happening in Geneva today:

1.  to feed over 200 people at Hesed House in Aurora between 11 p.m. July 11 and 3 a.m. July 12. For more information, call Steve Lowe at 630-232-0133.

Hesed House is located at 659 S. River St., Aurora. 

2. The will meet at 7 p.m. in City Hall Chambers, 109 James St., Geneva. A copy of the meeting's agenda can be found by clicking here.

3. Bring any Meijer receipt to the  tonight and receive up to four buy-one, get-one-free tickets. The Cougars are in first place for the second half of the season and will play the Burlington Bees, a team affiliated with the Oakland Athletics. 

The game starts at 6:30 p.m. at  in Geneva.

4.Visit area  for a free gift in honor of of , or 7/11/11. It is the 84th birthday of 7-Eleven so they're celebrating with free 7.11-ounce Slurpees.

5. World Population Day takes place every July 11 to raise awareness of the problems of overpopulation and continued population growth. This day was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Program in 1987. 

The world population is expected to reach 7 billion in 2011.
