On Oct. 28th, “Trick or Treatment” at NOVO: Renewing Joy in Life

Open House at St. Charles therapy practice offers demonstrations & exercises

With a twist on a decidedly child-centric holiday, a St. Charles counseling and therapy practice is holding an open house for the community on Monday, October 28th.

Dubbed “Trick or Treatment,” the event at NOVO: Renewing Joy in Life, 104 S. Second Ave., is from 3 to 7 p.m. Geared toward adults, Trick or Treatment is an opportunity for anyone to learn more about the variety of services available at the practice.

In keeping with the event’s Halloween theme, NOVO will be providing wine and cheese, as well as sharing traditional candy treats and snacks, throughout the office. NOVO’s office is a converted residence that has welcomed plenty of trick-or-treaters over the years.

In addition, a variety of NOVO professionals will be on hand to provide information and answer questions. There will be some demonstrations and exercises for those who are interested in a more in-depth look at treatments like neurofeedback, psychotherapy, Jin Shin Tara and life coaching, said Dr. Vicki Alden, NOVO’s founder.

Neurofeedback is designed to help people attain optimal brain functioning.

On one end of the spectrum, neurofeedback frequently addresses those suffering with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other psychological disorders or life transitions that interfere with usual coping skills. On the other end, neurofeedback is an exciting new way to help healthy brains function optimally, increasing your personal and professional success.

Jin Shin Tara is a “subtle energy medicine” with roots that predate Buddha and Moses and is an important component of NOVO’s psychotherapy and life coaching services. Its most common effect is deep relaxation, which targets stress that so often interferes with optimal health and well-being.

Also among NOVO’s offerings are psychotherapy or life coaching, in which practitioners teach techniques on how to help your brain incorporate new positive ways of thinking and develop strategies for success in all areas of life.
