Oliver is looking for a great home!

Hi! My name is Oliver! I am a 3 year old apricot and cream Petite Basset Griffon Vendeen mix (PBGV) or at least that's the best guess from my vet! I weigh 15 lbs and should top out at 18 once I gain some weight! I came to live with my foster mom after roaming the streets in Southern Illinois and I am so happy she decided to rescue me. My foster mom has been busy spreading the word about what a SWEET boy I am!  I am so gentle and I just want to have attention and be loved. I am a little nervous around new things and fast movements, so older kids would probably be best in my new home. When I got to my new foster home, I was laying next to the air conditioning vent when the air went on, it scared me so much I jumped! I really like my crate, it is safe and I know it's mine. My foster mom has this really plush bed for me. At first I didn't even know what to do with it, she put me on it and it only took me about 5 minutes to fully appreciate the finer things in life. I sleep through the night in my crate with no accidents. I'm doing really well with my housebreaking skills too! I don't know any commands, but I'm trying to learn while I'm here. I'd love to take a class with you to learn some new things! I do alright alone during the day while my foster mom is at work, but I'd like to live with someone who is around some of the day. I live with a foster Yorkie sister and we get along great, I also like the other dogs in the neighborhood. There are also 2 cats in my foster home and they don't bother me one bit.  I walk really well on a harness, but on a regular collar and leash I tend to pull.  I would do best with a fenced in yard because according to my breed description, I am a runner!  I'm up to date on all my vaccinations, heartgard, and frontline. I will be neutered and microchipped on 9/11 and then I'll be ready to find my forever home! If you'd like to meet me, please fill out an application so my foster mom can contact you and you can see for yourself what a sweet boy I am! I love to give kisses, so get ready to be loved! Here is some more info on the PBGV:The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen is sometimes called the "Little Griffon Vendeen Basset." Cheerful, friendly and intelligent, this little dog is comical to watch. This delightful bugger is curious and self-assured. Bold and lively, compact and robust, it loves to explore. The PBGV is basically a pack animal and much of his behavior reflects this heritage. It has a casual appearance, but is always alert. The PBGV is intelligent and can be trained for many purposes. He also has a great desire to please. They are good with children and are fairly friendly with strangers. Giving your dog daily long walks, proper human/canine communication, along with a variety of toys and things to chew on, a safe environment. The use of a crate not only provides this safety, but it also becomes his own special place.
