New Grassroots Political Organization Forming in the 14th Congressional District

On Saturday June 8 in Huntley, an energetic group of more than 55 voters from around the 14th Congressional District met to kick off an organized, grassroots effort to unseat Republican Congressman Randy Hultgren, as well as to support candidates down to the precinct level. Former Democratic Congressional candidate and keynote speaker, Dennis Anderson, addressed the crowd on the value of grassroots organizations in engaging and empowering local constituents. Other speakers included former 8th District U.S. Congressional Representative, Melissa Bean; Nancy Shepherdson, former chairwoman of the Eighth District Democrats and Independents; and Mike Bissett and Mark Pietrowski, Chairmen of the McHenry and DeKalb County Democratic Parties. The group will be formalizing its PAC status and is looking for Democratic and Independent constituents who want people with good ideas to have the support needed to mount visible, competitive campaigns for offices at every level. Contact turn14blue@gmail.com. (Moderate Republicans who are unhappy with the far right views of Tea Party Republicans like Hultgren are welcome.)
