Geneva's Searcy Makes Impact on Softball Record Book

A belated and overdue congratulations to Geneva's Kirsten Searcy, who capped her 4-year softball career as one of Geneva's most prolific hitters with another outstanding performance her senior year, hitting 0.362 with a 0.655 slugging percentage, 19 doubles (one of the area and conference leaders) and 48 RBI's (also one of the area and conference leaders).  She led Geneva in doubles, home runs, slugging percentage, extra base hits, total bases and RBI's.  She joins other Geneva elite hitters in Sarah Carlson (2002), Anne Kautz (1998) and Kelsey Ruitenburg (2006).  During her career, she earned all-conference and all-area recognition every year, in one of the top conferences in the state (Upstate Eight) which has had the 4A state runner-up each of the past 3 years (St Charles East-2013, Bartlett-2012, St Charles North-2011).  She broke or tied 9 Geneva hitting records, put herself in the top three in 9 more, and showed she was a complete softball player by setting the fielding percentage for third baseman.  This season she was also named one of the Chicago Sun-Times Top 100 Softball Players and selected as a Fehlman Memorial All-Star.  She decided to forgo softball in college and accept an academic scholarship to attend Oklahoma State University.
