Geneva Varsity Dance Team Takes Third at IHSA Winter Meltdown

The Geneva High School Varsity Dance Team took third place at the IHSA Winter Meltdown Cheer and Dance Competition at the Sears Centre on January 4. They competed against eighteen schools for the number three spot in their 2A division at the largest dance and cheer competition in 2014.

Coach Amy VanWagenen said, "The next two weekends we have two of our most important competitions coming up, our conference competition and sectionals. The girls know what it takes to place well at these competitions and they are working harder than ever to stay at the top." 

The Geneva Varsity Dance Team is coached by Amy VanWagenen and has 18 members consisting of eight seniors, four juniors, five sophomores and one freshman. Dance team captains: Aimee Dappas, Hailey Wishne and Kelsey Paeth. Co-captains: Danielle Friedel and Mindy Lietza.

Team members: Molly Zacher, Emily Schmid, Kennedy Hughes, Michelle Lapetina, Gigi Hansen, Jenna Soldati, Natalie Erickson, Mary Kafer, Diana Brognia, Maddie Emma, Elena Cramer, Nicole Rinne, and Nikki Serra.

Geneva competes next on January 18 at Conference at Matea Valley High School.
