Friendship Village of Schaumburg and GreenFields of Geneva Earn Prestigious Accreditation

Friendship Senior Options is pleased to announce that both of its senior living communities: Friendship Village of Schaumburg and GreenFields of Geneva have achieved accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities-Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CARF-CCAC). This prestigious recognition which is the result of a rigorous survey process, is awarded to only 15% of the retirement communities nationwide. Undergoing the accreditation process is completely voluntary and reflects an organization’s commitment to providing excellent service conforming to more than 1100 strict standards.

Friendship Village of Schaumburg and GreenFields of Geneva are both Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC’s). They offer independent living, assisted living, rehabilitation, skilled nursing and memory support. CARC-CCAC accredits aging services such as CCRC’s that meet or exceed industry-generated standards of excellence in governance and administration; financial resources and disclosure; and resident life, health and wellness.

Stephen Yenchek, President and CEO of Friendship Senior Options said that the dual accreditation is significant on several levels. “At one end of the spectrum, we have Friendship Village, which was the first CCRC in Illinois to receive accreditation, and the only one to have received a fifth five-year accreditation. That’s twenty-five consecutive years of excellence, as recognized by CARF-CCAC,” he said. “At the other end of the spectrum is GreenFields of Geneva which celebrated its one year anniversary in January. It is very unusual for a young organization to pursue accreditation as a new community, rather than waiting until it is more established. Not only does this show conformance with strict standards early on, but also a willingness to use these standards as a roadmap for its future.”

CARF-CCAC accreditation is an intensive process that includes collaborative review and extensive surveying, assessment and evaluation. Both Friendship Village of Schaumburg and GreenFields of Geneva spent months preparing for the accreditation.

Yenchek said that the accreditation reflects Friendship Senior Options’ vision of being a “nationally recognized leader of exemplary senior-centered services through collaborative innovation, perseverance and growth, upholding
an exceptionally high standard of excellence.”

“We are very proud of this official honor, recognizing what we already know to be true. Friendship Senior Options’ communities are dedicated to providing the very best in services to aging adults,” said Yenchek.
