Hope for Tomorrow, Inc. (HFT) is a 501(c)3
not-for-profit social services agency that operates six highly-structured,
clinically-guided, substance-free homes in Kane County, Illinois, for 53 adults
(men, women, and U.S. Veterans) suffering from the diseases of mental health
(post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, and major depressive
disorders) and/or chronic substance use disorders (alcohol, opiates, cocaine,
prescription pain medications).

HFT's
program goals are to reduce homelessness and substance abuse, prevent relapse,
identify and treat mental illness, and aid reintegration into society. Our
treatment approach encompasses not only the symptoms of the disease (active
addiction) but, more importantly, it addresses root causes such as trauma,
shame, abandonment, loneliness, emptiness and sexual abuse. HFT’s belief is
that in order to fully recover from a hopeless state of mind and soul
individuals must “Build their lives around recovery instead of building
recovery around their lives”®.

In
February 2013, HFT responded to the need to help Veterans as they return from
serving their country and found themselves struggling with homelessness,
substance abuse and PTSD. Opportunity House is one of the six homes which is dedicated
for Veterans only.  "America's
military personnel are relentless in their sacrifices to our nation. In return,
we, as a nation, are indebted to the well-being of all veterans. America needs
to band together to ensure that we meet the needs of every veteran as they
return 'home' from war", according to Jeff Gilbert, Hope For Tomorrow founder
and Executive / Clinical Director.

Our mission is “to teach individuals with
homelessness, mental health disorders and chronic substance abuse issues how to
successfully and permanently reintegrate into society”. We are committed to the
belief that incorporating a comprehensive, recovery home approach to the
treatment of homelessness and addictive disorders produces an accountable,
responsible, productive, and self-sufficient lifestyle that benefits not only
the individual, but all of society.
