Empower Girls Locally

Currently, Girl Scouts needs volunteers, ages 18 and older, to lead six-week Girl Scout troop opportunities for girls in grades K–5. Volunteers will be provided training and support materials.

Every girl has greatness inside her. Yet, she faces barriers she can't withstand alone: a lack of role models, unhealthy images of beauty, peer pressure to not stand out, and a mean-girl culture. - www.togetherthere.org

Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois (GSNI) provides each girl they serve with mentors to pave the way for her success! Currently, GSNI needs volunteers, ages 18 and older, to lead six-week Girl Scout troop opportunities for girls in grades K–5. Volunteers will be provided training and support materials focusing on one of three Girl Scout Journeys:

  • It’s Your Story – Self-esteem through the arts
  • It’s Your World – Community exploration
  • It’s Your Planet – Healthy planet, healthy girls

Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois serves nearly 18,000 girls and 5,500 adult volunteers in parts or all of Boone, Carroll, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Jo Daviess, Kane, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago counties.

Through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, girls in grades K through 12 are engaged in discovering themselves, connecting with others, and taking action to make the world a better place. Girls develop leadership potential by participating in age-appropriate activities that enable them to discover their values, skills, and the world around them. Activities in science and technology, business and economic literacy, and outdoor and environmental awareness provide girls with opportunities for fun and friendship while fostering the development of leadership skills and self-esteem.
