Once again it seems that this Captain’s got swagger. At the past three dog shows that Kody, or shall I refer to him by his official name, "Ascot Gold Cup," has competed in, he has been bringing home points, blue ribbons and "Best of Breed" awards. As one of his handlers confidently said, “Kody doesn’t lose. He doesn’t know how.”
He knows just what to do to make those judges happy, and it all begins with wagging his tail and making them smile. How could anyone resist that crazy, energetic, but somehow sophisticated ball of fluff?! Apparently, they simply cannot! And Kody, I am sure would be more than proud to tell you that.
This past weekend, Kody competed in the Chain O’Lakes Kennel Club’s (a member of the American Kennel Club) All-Breed Dog Show at the Lake County Fairgrounds. On both Saturday and Sunday, he was victorious in his division.
His breeder has encouraged us to show him, and there’s clearly a reason why. He was born to strut his stuff. I mean it. Kody might have his late night “super nova” moments where he runs ceaselessly about the house, stealing whatever is in sight and relishing in the reward of futile and exhausting games of "catch-me-if-you-can," but when he’s on the big stage at show, he plays the part of the well-poised champ, Ascot Gold Cup, with ease. He prances around the ring like it’s nobody’s business. I guess all that obedience training is good for something.
Nonetheless, when he finally gets to come home, Ascot Gold Cup loves to take an extended nap and then before long, the crazy pup that loves to test our patience and frustration, more affectionately known as a Mr. Captain Kody, is back once again to keep us all on our feet.
