Captain Kody Says: Summer’s Nearly Over, but There’s Plenty of Sunshine Left!

School may be starting, but the sun won't abandon us in Geneva just yet!

Yes, it’s the time of year when all those hibernating yellow buses report for duty, school supplies are nearly sold out, and for whatever reason, I am overwhelmed by memories of elementary school and the permeating aroma of waxy crayons, lead, eraser dust and chalk (which I presume now has been taken over by the nauseating smell of dry erase markers). While I am not longing to return to grammar school, fall does make me nostalgic for learning new things. And if there is one thing Kody has taught me this summer, and I presume will continue to teach me, it’s that you should always stay outside so long as the sun is shining!

So when that school bell rings at the end of the day, kids and parents alike must remember to continue making time to get outdoors and play. Whether though joining a recreational league for fall baseball, softball, football, tennis or soccer or simply going for a walk and playing at the park, summer’s sun will continue to keep us warm and provide us with extended daylight for another couple months this fall.

And then, before you know it, leaves will be crunching beneath your feet and cooler breezes will be upon us.  Take advantage of the sunny skies and warmer weather now! Do your homework outside, sidewalk shop in Geneva, take a bike ride, read a new book on your deck or porch, and perhaps most importantly, if you have a dog, never, ever neglect to take him for a walk! Kody will thank you J
