Captain Kody Gets His First Doggy Cone at Dairy Queen!

What's better than an ice cream cone on a hot summer day? According to Captain Kody—aside from a brand new bone, not much. And with the temperature reading in the car registering over 100 degrees, I have to agree with him. No, I do not get excited about new bones, but a creamy Dairy Queen cone is a special treat. Not to mention, when someone else (i.e - your Mom) is treating you to a cool, sweet treat, it is definitely the perfect thing to cure the heat-induced drag of this stifling week of summer.

On account of the heat, and yes, Kody's inability to cool off today, we decided to take him for his very first "doggie cone" at Dairy Queen. If you didn't know this, Dairy Queen offers miniature dog-size cones that are ideal if you decide to take your canine with you for ice cream. The best part of all - doggie cones are free and they make mutts very happy!

Kody made his tiny cone last a long time, enjoying every creamy lick of vanilla ice cream as it melted in the heat. Once he was finished with his cone, he decided it was so good that he had to finish my vanilla ice cream cone for me as well. I probably should not spoil Kody with such a tasty summer indulgence, but with hot days like this, I am a sucker for Kody's irresistible puppy dog face, so I guess anything goes!
