Food for Thought (From a Pseudo-Foodie): We Are Now El Molcajete Fans
El Molcajete is absolutely worth a try! When the Bien Trucha craving hits, give this spot down the street a chance. You'll be glad you did.
Friends know I love my food. Friends also know I like it best when it's fresh from my husband's Honda. A cook, I am not. But with plenty of options in the Tri-Cities, Joel and I are never left to go hungry.
For years, I had been hearing about . For years I had, dimly, ignored what I'd heard. Being a die-hard, I was reluctant to allow my taste buds to try anything other than a Bien Trucha taco when the craving for a little "South of the Border" struck. Not now. Look out, Bien Trucha— you have competition!
After tucking in the 5-year-olds, Joel and I decided to throw caution to the wind and go ahead and try something new. We decided upon El Molcajete. I cracked open the prosecco while Joel hopped in the Honda to retrieve our latest gamble. I'd say this was a bet worth making. We are now El Molcajete fans.

The guacamole made for a delicious introduction. It was so fresh and so chunk-filled with ripe avacado that I may have had a few guac-covered chips too many. The torta La Regia's chorizo and pickled jalapenos were a pleasant surprise, and the tacos Estilo Guerrero were more than I hoped for. But the Queso Fundido Con Cameron was the star of the show. Shrimp-filled and sauced with something I can only describe as heavenly, these will be a new staple around Casa Pignotti.
I can't wait to try some of the other tacos, and the enchiladas must be sampled next, too. This was a great meal. The aroma of it all was even enough to pull one 5-year-old from his happy slumber. And though he is more a Nugget man, we agreed to dine in next time, he and his sister in tow. El Molcajete, the Pignottis will see you soon!
