Mutual Ground's 4th Annual Walk for Hope
This 5K Walk for Hope (and fun run) is an event to raise awareness about the horrific crimes of domestic violence and sexual assault and raise funds to help victims regain control of their lives. Participants register at firstgiving.com/mutualground and create a fundraising page. There is no registration fee--everyone is asked to raise at least $100. Refreshments, entertainment, children's activities make this a family friendly event at the Fox River.
More About Fabyan Forest Preserve
The Fabyan Forest Preserve is the 235-acre former estate of Colonel George and Nelle Fabyan. Located along the Fox River, the preserve features a Japanese Garden and the Fabyan Villa Museum, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Besides being known for their generosity to the community, the Fabyans developped code-breaking techniques that played a crucial role in both World Wars. The Villa is open between May and October. Group tours and field trips, as well as public tours and self-guided tours, are available. Photography is restricted to the exterior of the museum.
