On Friday, Oct. 19, the entire Geneva Middle School South seventh grade (245 students) spent the school day at the Dick Young Forest Preserve to participate in educational activities related to the prairie and stewardship.  Educational Activities: Students went on nature walks to learn about the prairie, learned about the importance of bird migration through lecture and a game, and reflected through observation and journaling upon what resources the prairie held in terms of plants and wild life and how important the prairie was to survival of Native Americans and early colonists (social …

You took their picture this morning, didn't you? Either in the kitchen or the front porch (our traditional spot) or at the school itself. Kindergarten students, grade-school veterans, middle-school bus riders, high school's young adults. Loaded with backpacks and wearing their favorite clothes. Steve Lowe of Geneva, an Aurora University employee, sent the following photo and message to campus colleagues after viewing a tornado's aftermath in Joplin, Mo., where he went to high school and where his mother and a brother remain. "Some of you know that my hometown is Joplin, MO," Lower wrote. "My mother and one of my brothers still live there.
