ESPNChicago.com Highlights NIU-Geneva Football Connection

Prior to Tuesday night’s NIU football game against Ball State, Scott Powers of ESPNChicago.com wrote a terrific piece highlighting the Huskies’ “Geneva connection.”

It turned out to be a fitting preview, since players from Geneva made a strong showing during the Huskies’ thrilling 41-38 victory. The Huskies rallied from a 17-point third quarter deficit to earn their sixth consecutive win and their 14th-straight Huskie Stadium victory.

Geneva’s Patrick Schiller recorded a team-high nine tackles, including two solos. Michael Santacaterina notched three tackles, and Frank Boenzi added one. Batavia’s Bobby Winkel also had a key solo tackle on a kickoff return.

The Huskies will wrap up the regular season next Friday, Nov. 25, at home against Eastern Michigan. Game time has been set for 10 a.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

With a win against the Eagles, NIU would clinch the MAC West Division and a trip to the MAC Championship game Friday, Dec. 2, in Detroit.
