Where's the Best Place to Get a Music Lesson?—Patch Readers' Choice

Let us know where to find the best music or voice lesson in Geneva, Batavia or St. Charles and pick the Readers’ Choice 2012 winner!

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Just getting the voice warmed up a little bit before making the announcement that Patch wants your vote on the Best Music Lesson venue in the Tri-Cities.

You don't have to be rich to be my girl, you don't have to be cool to rule my world. All I want is your extra time and your ... vote.

Sorry about the Prince flashback, but the topic here is music, and the goal is to get you to nominate your favorite place to learn it. Whether you play piano, clarinet, drums or flugelhorn, there are good people in these parts who can help you get better at it. You can sing their praises by voting for their business for a Patch 2012 Readers' Choice Award.

How do you do that? It's easy—as easy as Sunday morning ... or like taking candy from a baby. (Name those tunes.) Just vote in our Patch poll below.

Nominations were accepted on Geneva, Batavia and St. Charles Patch through July 9.

Winners in all Readers' Choice categories will be announced on Aug. 24.

The poll will open to accept votes from registered Patch users starting on July 23 and close at 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 17.

So vote in our Patch poll, which will "give you a chance," as Rod Stewart might say, to let you give your favorite music teaching place the coveted Patch Readers' Choice "love touch."

Hix Bros Music. I took drum lessons from Andrew back when they were on Farnsworth and even went with them to Naperville for a bit. Although I was taking drum lessons, I had also learned a bit for guitar. And I hadn't had stepped into one guitar lesson. Thank you Andrew for the learning experience and thank you Hix Bros Music for the music.

Vero Voce School of Visual & Performing Arts [mailto:dawn@dawnharkins.com] This is by far the most professional music studio in the area. The coaches are nurturing and awesome with the children. They seem to have just the write words to explain the proper technique in a way that the kids can grasp. I have three grandchildren that take voice, piano, acting and violin. They have progressed so much quicker in their individual talents than they have in previous years of study. My hope is that others will learn this before they have spent tens of thousands on the less than qualified teachers. Unfortunately sites such as this were not in existance when the children began their lessons, so we had to learn by trial and error.

Imperial music is the best. We have two children that take lessons, one with jay on piano and one on strings with mr p. jay is truly amazing, so patient and willing to work with my little one to make it so enjoyable! And mr P has really helped to create quite a budding classcal cellist. And the front desk was so helpful in scheduling both lessons on the same day at the same time.

Our vote is Imperial Music in Geneva! They've been around for 59 years and originally opened for business by Herb Granquist of Swedish Day's Music Competition. Imperial specializes in lessons on saxophone, flute, clarinet, trumpet, piano and voice & more! It's family owned and operated now by the Bazan's. Best place around!

Go to any of the schools mentioned to learn the notes and hand movements... to learn music, go play out on the road for a living for awhile - you'll learn the real blues as well as how to rock...that is where life's music lessons really occur, and the school of hard knocks provides the most exclusive degree in music-
