If you clicked on ths article from Tuesday's newsletter—and if the National Weather Service-Chicago prediction held—you're probably just in from or about to go shoveling your way out of the biggest snowstorm of the season.

A Winter Storm Warning started at 3 a.m. and extends all the way to midnight Tuesday. The National Weather Service says we could get 7 to 10 inches before it's done.

Light snow was expected to start things off, "become more intense toward daybreak" and continue through the evening.

"Accumulation rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour are possible at times, making snow removal difficult and travel extremely dangerous," the NWS says.

Heavy snow is expected to combine with wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph, which will cause blowing and drifting snow in open areas. Expect delays or cancellations at O'Hare and Midway. The NWS suggests travel only for emergencies on Tuesday. "If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency," the NWS says.
