Weather Alert: Dangerous Driving Conditions Thursday Morning, More Snow on the Way

Police have sent a warning of hazardous driving conditions.

Geneva police sent a Nixle e-blast Wednesday afternoon warning drivers to be especially careful in the Thursday-morning commute.

The Nixle blast highlighted a Special Weather Statement from theNational Weather Service-Chicago that warms of a period of snow very late Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.

"While snowfall totals are generally only expected to be an inch or two, the very cold temperatures will result in roadways becoming icy and potentially becoming difficult to treat as temperatures fall into the teens by early afternoon," the NWS says.

Another, stronger system is expected Friday and continuing Friday night. That one is expected to bring "several inches," according to the NWS-Chicago and as much as a foot, according to some of the late-Wednesday TV weather reports.

On Friday night, the windchill values will be as low as minus-7 degrees.

I find by leaving the bags of quarters I need for the tollway in the trunk, increase my traction in this kind of weather. Just another helpful tollway tip.
