Viewfinder: Lots of Ooh's and Aah's at the Migratory Bird Festival
Video and photo story: Mother Nature, bird experts put on a show at Peck Farm Park.
Owls, hawks, falcons and vultures.
Oh, my.
The predatory birds were on display Saturday at Peck Farm Park, where the Geneva Park District hosted a Migratory Bird Festival. A crowd of about 60 people saw demonstrations including a special presentation by Mark Spreyer, director of the Stillman Nature Center in South Barrington.

Indoor and outdoor events and projects were designed to enlighten and entertain the public on the topic of migratory birds.
One interesting component of the demonstration was a painted board (see photo) representing the actual size of bird wingspans. Birds grow to enormous dimensions. The California Condor wingspan measures up to 9 1/2 feet.
