Victim Improves After Crash in Campton Hills

The 24-year-old Carol Stream man continues to recover at Good Samaritan Hospital. The driver of the car, another 24-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The condition of a 24-year-old man injured in an Aug. 16 Campton Hills car crash continues to improve.

Eric Wiechart of Carol Stream was listed in fair condition at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, a hospital spokesman told Patch on Sunday evening.

Wiechart initially was listed in critical condition after the crash, which occurred at 12:05 a.m. Aug. 16 on Empire Road west of Kings Wood Road. He was airlifted by Life Star to Good Samaritan with potential life-threatening injuries, a Kane County Sheriff's Office press release said.

Wiechart was one of two passengers in the one-car crash. Wiechart was the front-seat passenger and Vetalik Lord, 25, of St. Charles was a rear-seat passenger.

A condition report was not immediately available Sunday evening, but Lord's injuries initially were reported Thursday as minor.

The driver of the car, Dustin Jordan of Hoffman Estates, died in the crash. He was 24.

Kane County sheriff’s detectives and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team continue to investigate this crash.
