Geneva Man Charged with Retail Theft
Gregory P. Meehan, 25, of the 300 block of Colonial Circle, Geneva, was charged at 10:21 p.m. Jan. 18 at Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road, with retail theft. According to police, Meehan attempted to leave Meijer with 40 miscellaneous grocery items valued at $223.31. Initially, he complied with a loss-prevention officer at the store, but then left. He was running east in the parking lot east of Randall Road when police located and arrested him. He was released on his own recognizance pending a Feb. 21, 2013, court appearance.

Theft of More than $500, Vehicle Burglary
Lucas Anthony McCoy, 24, of the 100 block of North 15th Street, was charged at 12:19 a.m. at 1705 W. Main St. with theft of more than $500, and vehicle burglary. An officer who recognized McCoy on the 1600 block of West Main Street took him into custody without incident. He was implicated in a Nov. 2, 2012 overnight vehicle burglary in the 1400 block of Indiana in which a a woman’s wallet and its contents were taken. An arrest warrant issued Dec. 7, 2012, charged him with theft by possession. McCoy was unable to post $10,000 bail and was transported to the Kane County Jail pending a court appearance.
Credit Card Fraud
Von Maur, 3810 E. Main St., reported at 12:12 p.m. that it had been the victim of a credit card fraud, stemming from a couple’s application on Dec. 29, 2012, for a credit card, with which they purchased a pair of women’s Ugg boots, a pair of child’s Ugg boots, and two gift cards. The combined purchase totaled $815. The store learned later that the credit application had been fraudulent and was linked to a Lake County identity theft.
Meijer, 855 S, Randall Road, reported at 6:21 p.m. the theft of a bottle of Skyy Vodka. The thief fled the store and could not be found.
