You have to wonder if there's a special ring in Dante's Inferno for anyone who steals saint medallions or Celtic pendants during the Christmas season.

Two separate incidents in this week's Geneva Police Department reports involved someone taking valuables from display cases of Third Street businesses. At least one of the display cases was confirmed to have been locked.

Retail Theft—Someone took seven silver saint medallions valued at $49.99 each from Pax Vobiscum in the Berry House shops, 227 S. Third St., sometime between Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, Geneva police reports said. The medallions were kept in a locked display case.

They included Saint Camillus, Saint Catherine, two Saint Denis, a Saint David, Saint Jason and one other unknown medallion, according to reports.

The total value of the medallions was estimated at $399.92.

Retail Theft—Someone took more than $1,000 in jewelry from Irish Sisters Imports, 312 S. Third St., sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 2, police reports said.

The three pieces of jewelry were located in a jewelry case in the front of the store and included one gold set of Shanore earrings valued at $399.95, one gold necklace and Shanore Celtic pendent valued at $345.95 and another necklace of the same description valued at $267, reports said.

The total value of the stolen items is $1,012.90.
