Sad to Say, McCarthy-Urlacher Calling It Quits; No News on Whether Jenny Will Stay in Geneva

Yes, in our ongoing gossip column on Geneva Patch, it looks like "Brienny" is over. No news on how long Jenny might stay in Geneva.

Say, it ain't so, Jenny and Brian!

You were indeed an adorable couple. But now it's back to being good friends, at least according to People magazine and any number of sources.

Jenny told People magazine yesterday (Aug. 16, 2012) that, sadly, the two were breaking up.

"Brian and I have decided to turn our romance into an amazing friendship," she said in a statement to People on Thursday.

She promised to be Urlacher's biggest cheerleader and finished the statement with a sentiment we all share: "Go, Bears!"

The story, of course, spread like wildfire, and has since been reported in many places, including the Chicago Sun-Times, the New York Daily News, NBC5 and Sports Illustrated.

America's cutest couple were seen numerous times in sleepy, enchanting Geneva, IL, over the summer. Most recently, their vehicles were spotted parked on River Lane near The Herrington.

Urlacher, of course, didn't show up to training camp, citing "personal reasons," but he is vowing today that that he'll be ready to play by Sept. 9, after orthoscopic knee surgery.

"That's all I care about," he told the Daily Herald's Bob Legere and others. "Sept. 9 is all I care about."

Jenny has been staying in Geneva this summer, and we hope she decides to settle here permanently. No news yet as to whether the romance was the sole reason for her return to her roots in the Chicago area, or whether the breakup will signal a move back to LA.

All I can say is I hope it was my column that prevented them from reproducing. Geneva never would've lived it down.

Rick Nagel "hope[s] she decides to settle here permanently"?

What, we don't have enough amateurs, we have to encourage pros now?

Jeff, your columns are as effective as any form of birth control! I can't imagine anyone reading your column and then being romantically inclined. Well, maybe the lovely Mrs. Ward might be so inclined.

"Geneva - It's One Big High School"

I suggest that the city adopt this as the city motto.

This is beyond accurate. Although I think the Patch has a lot to do with it. The "adults" here make high schoolers look good.

Let me get this straight. A celebrity moves to Geneva to spend the summer here with her son and good friends and Geneva Patch exploits the situation. They did not send out a press release when they moved here. They spent money in our downtown shops and restaurants and even attended the carnival during Swedish Days. Geneva Patch decides to act like a tabloid and exploit the situation so every idiot can give their
opinion on their private lives. Is his how we treat everyone from out of town? So sad.
