Patch wants to honor some of the best local businesses to buy sporting goods in the Tri-Cities.
Patch has gathered the names and addresses of several places to grab your gear in Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles. They include:
BBK Sports, 1900 E. Tyler Road, St. Charles
B & R Sporting Goods Fox Valley, 1996 S. Kirk Road, Geneva
Chicago Home Fitness, 614 Commons Drive, Geneva
Dick's Sporting Goods, 618 Commons Drive, Geneva
Geneva Custom Saddlery, 2s899 Nelson Lake Road, Batavia
Play It Again Sports, 1501 W. Main St., St. Charles
The Soccer Field, 1109 Randall Ct., Geneva
"...That Really Good Dance Store", 1429 W. Main St., St. Charles
Tri-City Sports, 57 S. Randall Road, Batavia
The Vertical Drop Ski & Patio Shop, 116 W. Main St., St. Charles
Please select your favorite by following these steps:
Step 1: Vote in the poll
You can vote once per day between now and noon Friday, April 13, in the poll below.
The sporting goods store with the most votes will get 10 points, while the one with second-most will receive 8 points and the business with the third-most will earn 6 points.
Step 2: Leave a review
The store with the best rating will receive 10 points, while the second-best will get 8 points and the third place finisher will receive 6 points. Go to the business listing page for the sporting goods store you like by using the links above or by clicking the "Directory" button at the top of this site.
Remember: You have to leave your review before noon on Friday, April 13.
Step 3: Leave a comment
Don't see your favorite? Leave a comment on this story and tell us who it is! (Remember: We are placing an emphasis on local businesses.) Leaving a comment is optional, but it's helpful in case of a tie.
We'll tally up the total based on the votes and reviews and declare the Readers' Choice winner. Good luck everyone … now let the voting begin!
For a complete list of rules, click on the PDF thumbnail below the Readers' Choice logo on this page.
Note: Since there are so many bike shops in the Tri Cities, we will likely hold a contest for those businesses in the future. Stay tuned!

Hi Ute: Yes, this contest was meant to focus on the local sporting goods stores in the Tri Cities. I admit that I was not familiar with all of the stores myself. If you click on the names of the stores in the list above the poll, you can learn about each business. Thanks for your feedback!

Remember that a directory review of your favorite is more valuable than a poll vote! Click on the name of the store in the body of this story, which is linked to the business listing. Then you can give a star rating and a comment. Voting ends at noon!

Perhaps you are looking for stores with a wider range of items but I don't want Geneva to overlook Geneva Running Outfitters on State Street as a place to get friendly, extremely knowledgeable service from a relatively new downtown shop. They excel in running and exercise footwear, clothing and some triathlon stuff too.
