UPDATE: Power Restored on Geneva's Southwest Side After 9 PM Tuesday
The power outages are due to "loss of ComEd power to substations," city says. City reports at 9:30 p.m. that power is restored after going out around 7:25 p.m. Tuesday.
Genevans reported power outages in Allendale, Eagle Brook and south of the railroad tracks near the Geneva train station Tuesday night.
At around 8:55 p.m. TriCom reports indicated personnel were being sent to "Western Avenue and the railroad tracks."
The city's Twitter account posted this update at about 8:35 p.m.:
"SW side power outages, due to loss of ComEd power to substations. Crews are working on the problem. No estimate of restoration at this time."

Geneva Patch commenters said power was restored in Allendale and the Peck Farm area shortly after 9 p.m. "Contacted the Geneva Police and they indicated 2 transformers had blown," Patch commenter G.Ryan said.
At around 9:30 p.m., the city Tweeted: "Electric has been restored. During power outages and other critical incidents, call 630-232-INFO for up to date details."

Why is it that every power outage affect Randal Square? This is getting old.

We have frequent outages on the south side too. And weather isn't necessarily to blame. We had far less outages when we lived on the east side.

We rarely had outages when Geneva purchased electricity from Wisconsin Power. It seems we have more problems since the city bought shares of the electrical plant in southern Illinois. And it seems we rely on ComEd for getting electricity to us, which I don't recall having to do that in the past.

The power fails, seemingly every time it rains, in certain areas on the Southwest side. There appears to be something fundamentally wrong with the grid here. We don't live in Baghdad; why should we have to put up with Third World electrical service?

I was thinking the same thing...the transformer on Western Ave and the train tracks seems to be plagued with problems. How many times are they going to put a band-aid on that??? I think that there is one behind Western Ave School, also. It is getting old. Time to organize and voice concern to City Hall.

we have lived in Geneva 41 years and in all that time power failure was and has been constantly going out, even in dry weather while our neighbors in St Charles very very seldom lose power Why not do as they do ??

Another power outage and everyone around Randall Square has power but us. This is so frustrating and we get no answers as to why. Wouldn't you think our aldermen Mr. Cummings and Mr. Marks would communicate to the homeowners as to what's happening and how the city is going to solve it.. We elected you.
