You took their picture this morning, didn't you?
Either in the kitchen or the front porch (our traditional spot) or at the school itself. Kindergarten students, grade-school veterans, middle-school bus riders, high school's young adults. Loaded with backpacks and wearing their favorite clothes. Maybe nervous, maybe scared, maybe laughing, ready for a new experience, a new school year.
Now, they're off and the house is really, really quiet.
Why not take a minute and share your photos or videos with your friends and neighbors?
Include a caption if you like, but you don't have to, if you don't want to. You know who you are, and your neighbors and the grandparents will see the kids and smile.
I'm going to risk the wrath of my family and post one "outtake" from our traditional Nagel first-day-of-school photo shoot, just to prime the pump. My daughters are off to high school, and it's the first time they've been in the same school since they went to Harrison.
I am verklempt.
To add a photo or video, just click on the "add a photo or video" tag underneath the photo on this screen. If you prefer to e-mail a photo, send it to rickn@patch.com and I'll post it for you.
Have a happy, successful and safe school year!

Can't believe my youngest is a senior this year. Our tradition is a photo outside the house and when the girls were in elementary school they brought an apple for their teacher. My senior at Augustana texted me her photo on Monday as she started her first day of class. The tradition carries on!
