This year’s Concert for a Cure, held on Aug. 28 at Tanna Farms, was hugely successful and enabled the Paul Ruby Foundation to raise this year’s goal of $100,000 for Parkinson’s research at Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center. Eleven bands provided entertainment for the more than 1,200 people who attended this year’s concert. More than 200 volunteers helped make the concert happen, providing invaluable help and ensuring everything ran smoothly the day of the concert.

The Paul Ruby Foundation has now raised more than $500,000 for Parkinson’s research, and the board of the foundation will go to Northwestern Memorial Hospital on Oct. 24 to hear presentations on research projects that need funding. Having begun the foundation in 2007, the foundation has had immense growth in the past five years and has helped to fund research projects that have received national funding with the National Institutes of Health.

Ruby, founder, says “Every year we get closer to finding a cure, and we could be the ones who raise the dollar that cures Parkinson’s disease.”

Volunteer opportunities are always available. On Sunday, Sept. 9, the foundation helped at the Sub-5 Century Bike Challenge, which donates funds to the Paul Ruby Foundation through their annual bike race and recreational ride in Hampshire. Contact kelly@paulrubyfoundation.org with any questions.
