Patch Picks: Ideas for a Perfect Date Night in Geneva

Whether it's puppy love or a burning eternal flame, making time for your significant other is an important part of any relationship.

Dating is sometimes seen as a juvenile experience full of high anxiety. Aside from the sweaty palms and queasy anticipation, most couples revere their time in the beginnings of a relationship.

Unfortunately by the time you get out of the dating stage you're worrying about mortgages, insurance, kids and pets. The next thing you know all the things that made being a couple fun become full of boring responsibility.

The best way to combat lazy relationship habits is to make time for one another. Thankfully, Geneva has plenty of culture and things to do to make a great date night a reality.

Here are some tips to make date night a reality in your love life:

Enjoy browsing though an art gallery

Morrison Galleries is located in downtown Geneva and their later business hours make them a good option for enjoying fine art on a weekend evening. It's a great place to view pieces of sculpture, paintings and jewelry by American and European artists.

Take in some live jazz

Fiora's has one of the most beautiful outdoor patios in Geneva with a live jazz trio that usually starts at 8:30 p.m. During the winter their library wine bar and wine cellar room are an intimate way to enjoy some quiet conversation over a glass of wine.

Eat a gourmet meal

It's not always fiscally possible to splurge on date night but, when the time is right Atwaters at the Harrington Inn and Spa is the place to impress your date. With the only four diamond AAA rating in the area, their food and service is at a gourmet level usually not seen outside of the big city.

Take a walk in the park

Island Park is one of the best places in town to watch the world go by. Taking a stroll along the river and absorbing the serenity of nature's surroundings is a good way to reconnect with the love of your life.

Attend a cooking demonstration

Each month Williams Sonoma in the Geneva Commons offers a cooking class. Classes are an hour and a half to two hours long and include a demonstration, samples of featured dishes, and recipes to take home. Participants even get 10 percent off their purchases that day. Contact the store for more information.
