It was great to see a crowd huddled at the corner of Third and State streets at the old State Bank of Geneva building that has already gone through several lives that have not ended well. 

But this past weekend, EvenFlow Music & Spirits opened to the public with live music, food, spirits and an inviting atmosphere that drew a steady crowd on a comfortable summer evening.

Owner Michael Knuth said he was happy with the renovations of the building and was anxious for customers to see the transformation.

"We are excited to share our love of music with Geneva and the surrounding suburbs, and appreciate all the support we have been getting from the local community," Knuth said.

Mockingbird Sun, a country act on tour performing with acts such as Martina McBride and the Eli Young Band, took to the stage on Saturday.

Guest can enjoy American contemporary cuisine "big plates" for dinner with choices that included Pomegranate Short Ribs, Grilled Veggie Lasagna or Cured Pork Chops with a blue cheese crust and brioche apple stuffing. 

Small plates are available, too, such as Crispy Buffalo Chicken Lollipops or Rosemary Lamb Meatballs. The menu inspiration comes from Chef Todd Davies and Dan Emerson, executive chef.

A formal grand opening is expected in a few weeks. They're also on Facebook. 

The new restaurant fills up a corner that has been vacant for a long time. The only other business at the corner of State and Third is Starbuck's. Kiss the Sky, located on the northwest corner, recently moved to Batavia and the southwest corner previously occupied by Merra-Lee, Boutique 15, Meeting Place, She She and East Room closed in January and remain shuttered.
