'Munger Road' Could Reach Theaters Nationwide
Because of recent success, the locally shot movie could get a larger audience.
Munger Road, directed by St. Charles native Nick Smith, has become an instant local hit.
The horror film follows two police officers on the eve of Scarecrow Fest who search for an escaped serial killer the same night teens go missing. It opened at the end of last month at Charlestowne 18 and is spreading to theaters outside of St. Charles.
Smith told The Sun Times that Universal Pictures has said the movie could be released nationwide later this month.

According to various media reports, the movie did well for the theater. Charlestowne 18 grossed about $40,000 the opening weekend, which made it the highest-grossing theater in the country, according to NBCChicago.com.
Show-times are available on the movie's website, www.mungerroad.com.
Before you go, read a movie review by Roger Ebert of The Sun Times. He gave Munger Road three stars.

Munger Road was surprisingly good... and suspenseful. The ending was somewhat of an "Oh Wow!!!" type of ending, like M. Night Shamalya movies. Really well done!

Really enjoyed it. The ending a little different. My friends and I think it should have a
part 2.

My wife and I really enjoyed it and was pleasantly surprised by just how professionally done it was! Of course we went in a bit biased given that we both live in St Charles and our daughter Allyssa did some of the photo shoots for the movie during the filming! Overall, this movie is much better than a lot of the stuff coming out of Hollywood and well worth the price of admission!

Everyone I've talked to who has seen "Munger Road" has said they like it a lot. Great to see a local film-maker do so well!
