Moms Talk: Join Patch's Own 'Time for Kind Day' and Tell Our School Board Members How Much You Appreciate Their Work
On American Education Week, here's your chance to say thanks to School Board members who spend their time and talents in an increasingly difficult duty.
As part of the American Education Week, the day of Tuesday, Nov. 15, was designated as School Board Members Day in Illinois.
Geneva and St. Charles school districts joined other districts across the state to thank these elected officials and community volunteers for their commitment and contributions to public schools.
Now, you can, too—right here on Patch—by joining us in a Moms Talk experiment in kindness and Internet commentary.
We hope you've read the recent story about St. Charles student Aria Novak's "Time for Kind Day." Aria's vision was to develop a “really cool” day, when everyone could, as simple as it sounds, be nice to each other.
“I wanted to make that change,” Aria said.
We're asking for your help, moms of the Tri-Cities, to follow Aria's example and do something similar here on Patch. Use the comments field below to say something nice about or simply say thank you to a school board member or the board as a whole.
Or, if you want, write something nice about a favorite teacher, principal or district staffer you know. After all, it's not just the school board that makes a district tick.
Here are the commenting ground rules—for this story only.
- Only kind comments are allowed. Editors will monitor the comments and delete any that we deem unkind.
- We'll open the comments at with the publication of this article and close them at 6 p.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 16.)
In recent weeks, we've read a lot about the Occupy Wall Street movement. What we're asking you to do here is to occupy the comments field of St. Charles and Geneva Patch with words of kindness, appreciation and community spirit.
