League Slates Forum For Kane County Candidates
The forum is scheduled at 7 p.m. in the Batavia City Council Chambers in City Hall.
On Thursday, Oct. 11, The League of Women Voters of Central Kane County will present a Candidates Forum featuring those in contested races for countywide office in the General Election on Nov. 6.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Batavia City Hall, 101 N. Island Ave.
The public is invited to come and ask questions of the candidates.
The league has invited the following candidates to participate, though at press time not all had responded:
- Kane County Board chairman race: Sue Klinkhamer (D) and Chris Lauzen (R)
- Kane County coroner race: Tao Martinez (D) and L. Robert Russell (R)
- Kane County recorder race: Brenda Rodgers (D) and Sandy Wegman (R)
- Kane County circuit clerk race: Thomas M. Hartwell (R) and Edmund James Nendick (D)
A primary goal of the League of Women Voters is to encourage educated and active participation of citizens in government. The League is a nonpartisan organization that never endorses candidates for any office. Said League Voter Service Chair Patti Lackman, “Our forums offer citizens an opportunity to hear candidates express their opinions in an unbiased, civil setting. The League hopes that those who attend will be better able to understand candidate capabilities and viewpoints so that, as voters, they can make informed choices at the polls.”
