Hydrant Flushing Is Under Way in Geneva

Flushing will be performed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The annual September fire hydrant flushing season is official under way.

Beginning Monday (Sept. 19) the city of Geneva Water Department began its semi-annual fire hydrant flushing program

The flushing is performed during the daytime hours—8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday—and will continue until all of the hydrants throughout the city have been flushed. That generally takes four weeks.

Residents are urged to refrain from laundering during this time period to avoid staining.

The Water Department regrets any inconvenience that discolored water may cause its customers while this work is in progress. Signs will be placed in neighborhoods to remind residents that the program is under way in your area.

Residents can view a progress map on the city of Geneva /Construction Web page through the Internet.
