"Are you the great man we've been waiting for?"
"I think I could be."
That's the quote du jour from the movie Oz, the Great and Powerful, playing at Randall 15 IMAX, Classic Cinema's Charlestowne 18 and a billion other theaters near you and me.
I didn't know Patch had a film critic until just now, but apparently his name is Brett Martin, and you can see his video review here. (What do you think of him, by the way?)
Martin gives the great-and-powerful box office winner ($150.2 million in its opening weekend) three stars on a five-star scale. "It never makes a good case to justify its existence," Martin says.
We're looking for local reaction. What did you think? How many stars do you give it?
Here's what folks had to say on Geneva Patch's Facebook page:
- We really liked it!
- Just saw it at 1:00. I personally thought is was wonderful! I wouldn't recommend it for kids under 7 unless they've been exposed to some scary images or being scared. Both my daughters and another little girl seemed to enjoy the movie over all. I'll be buying it day one when it comes out on DVD!
- Rick I thought you were the great and powerful Oz??
- I just saw it at Randall. I'm sorry I didn't opt for the Imax. It was really good. And I'm picky about my movies. I was surprised that the 1pm show wasn't a whole bunch of kids. And... the kids that were there were very quiet. Yea!
