'Hot Pink Strands' Success Shows Good Health is Good Business
Research shows the majority of consumers want businesses to be engaged in health issues in the community—and a test program in Geneva shows it works.
A Geneva company called BrandWeavers for Health launched a localized pilot test campaign—Hot Pink Strands for Breast Cancer Awareness—by developing partnerships between the Delnor Foundation, the Delnor Center for Breast Health, Hot Heads Salon, and the Eagle Brook Country Club, all located in Geneva.
"Hot Pink Strands was a local success," says Sharon Schreiber, founder of BrandWeavers for Health. "The entire community got onboard. Everyone from doctors and nurses, to business people and thousands of local teens—via social networking—all rallied together for a common cause. Money was raised, morale skyrocketed, and hundreds of thousands of media impressions were made, resulting in the education of consumers on preventive care."
The success of the campaign confirms consumer research that healthcare providers, media, and businesses across all industries, should be involved in health issues including supporting the health of local communities.
BrandWeavers for Health, a new healthcare consultancy based in Geneva, is comprised of independent medical and marketing professionals. Fronted by Schreiber—an independent healthcare marketing, branding, and philanthropic veteran—other key players include Melody Arnold, a healthcare and physician relations professional, and Dr. Al Kerpe, a local internal medicine physician who is BrandWeavers' medical advisor.
"Our mission is to help organizations foster healthy lives, build healthy communities, and generate healthy bottom lines," says Schreiber, founder of BrandWeavers for Health. "Nothing is more rewarding than successfully getting people involved in multi-purpose causes they're passionate about. It's win-win-win for clients, consumers, and communities."
BrandWeavers for Health focuses on marketing with meaning, creating dynamic health campaigns, savvy cause marketing programs, and purpose driven corporate sponsorships that spotlight today's most pressing health concerns. By weaving healthy brand experiences between and among patients, physicians, the community, civic leaders, customers, employees, and corporate partners, BrandWeavers works to place key issues such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and stress front and center in the public's mind.
Whether working with a small company in Illinois' Fox Valley, Fortune 500 companies, or a celebrity inspired organization such as Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Camps for seriously ill children, Schreiber listens to what people say they want, and pays attention to the heart and soul of whatever community she's working with.
"Consumers today expect health organizations and businesses to be engaged in health, leaders at the forefront providing citizens with strong incentive toward change," says Schreiber. "The majority of consumers say they trust companies that are effectively engaging in health, and buy and recommend products and services from these organizations. This says it all."
