Geneva High School Principal Tom Rogers presented students to the Board of Education in recognition oftheir accomplishments. Students receiving the Tradition of Excellence Award included:
Girls’ Cross Country – State Qualifiers: Kathryn Adelman, McKenzie Altmayer, Jordan Andersen, Kassidy Donohue, Sydney Gelis, McKenna Happold, Marin Leone, Laura Marschitz, Emma McSpadden, Kylie Monahan, Brooke Nusser and Mackenzie Williams.
The team was the Upstate 8 Conference champion, won the regional crown, and placed third in sectionals. At the IHSA Class 3A State meet, all of the girls achieved a personal best time and the team placed sixth in state.
Boys’ Cross Country – State Qualifier: Michael Bianchina.
Bianchina placed third at sectionals qualifying him to compete at the IHSA Class 3A Boys’ State meet.
The girls’ and boys’ cross country teams are coached by Bob Thomson.
Girls’ Tennis – State Qualifier Singles: Kirby Einck.
Einck was the Upstate 8 Conference champion, the Kane County Chronicle’s Tennis Player of the Year, and placed third at sectionals, qualifying her to compete at the IHSA Class 2A State tennis tournament.
The girls’ tennis team is coached by Maureen Weiler.
Illinois DECA State Officer: Andrew Thomas.
Following a comprehensive application and rigorous interview process for an Illinois DECA office,Andrew was elected as one of DECA’s vice presidents. Andrew is the first Geneva High School studentwho has represented the entire State of Illinois for DECA.
The DECA adviser is Jamie Dunlap.
