UPDATE: Flames Erupt in Frank Lloyd Wright Home on Fifth Street in Geneva Early Friday

No one was injured. The fire was determined to be accidental, but the exact cause is under investigation.

A two-story Frank Lloyd Wright home in downtown Geneva caught fire early Friday morning, according to a report by the .

Flames were visible inside the two-story home when firefighters responded to a house fire at 318 S. Fifth St. at approximately 4:07 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3. 

The home was known as the P.D. Hoyt House and built in 1906 by Frank Lloyd Wright, according to the mcnees.org website and The Frank Lloyd Wright Tour website.

Upon arrival, initial responding companies found visible smoke showing from the first and second floors and located a working fire on the first floor. The fire was confined to the first floor, with smoke damage throughout the house. 

The residents were at home at the time of the fire and were able to 
evacuate prior to the Fire Department's arrival. There were no injuries to the residents or firefighting personnel, and no adjacent structures were threatened, Deputy Chief Mark Einwich said.

The home is owned by Patricia MacLachlan, according to BlockShopper.com.

No damage estimate was available as of about 8:43 a.m. Friday, but neighbors say the home is of historic significance.

The fire has been determined to be accidental in nature and the exact cause remains under investigation, Einwich said.

The Geneva Fire Department was assisted by mutual aid companies from the St. Charles, , Elburn, North Aurora, and fire departments.

This is the second house fire in downtown Geneva in the past two weeks. On July 20, fire took a home in the .
