A fire broke out at the First Baptist Church on Keslinger and Peck Roads sometime prior to 9:10 p.m. Saturday.
Multiple police and fire units were on hand to fight the blaze. A lightning strike might have started the fire, according to initial scanner reports.
Geneva Patch reader Pete Hanson e-mailed the photos you see here, taken with his cell phone. The first photo was e-mailed at 9:12 p.m. The second was e-mailed at 9:14 p.m. and show flames and smoke.
There are two campuses for the First Baptist Church. One is at 2300 South St. The second, where the fire took place, is the west campus at 3435 Keslinger Road.
No other details are available at this time. Patch will follow up when information is available from official sources.
Thank you to Pete Hanson for the photos and heads up.

A quick visual inspection by headlights at 12:05 am suggests there may be no damage to the building other than exterior scorching. The fire seems to have occurred in an outside storage area such as that used for trash containers.
